There are several routes to Les Charmettes by road and by air.  If you are driving we’ll provide you with a detailed route as soon as you let us have details of your preferred Channel crossing.  Because there are so many offers available on the Internet as well as periodic promotions on TV and in the Press we ask you to arrange and book your own crossing. 

 Long drive or short drive, you can decide and to help you Les Charmettes is:

 510 miles from Calais, Boulogne and the Channel Tunnel.

415 miles from Dieppe, (Ferry from Newhaven).

380 miles from Le Havre, (Ferries from Portsmouth and Newhaven).

335 miles from Caen, (Ferry from Portsmouth).

335 miles from Cherbourg, (Ferries from Portsmouth, Poole and Rosslare)

250 miles from St Malo, (Ferries from Portsmouth, Weymouth and Poole).

330 miles from Roscoff, (Ferries from Plymouth, Cork and Rosslare).

 Next you need to decide if you are going to speed to Les Charmettes by using the toll roads or settle for the slower roads.  The RETURN Tolls from Calais amount to about £80 and you have the joy of getting around Paris, which we quickly learned is best done after midnight and before 4am!  You may prefer to put the £80 towards a cabin on a night crossing from Portsmouth to St Malo and cut the mileage by half.

An alternative is to fly and Ryanair, EasyJet and Flybe all fly to La Rochelle.  Car Hire is available at La Rochelle airport from a selection of companies, flights can be booked on the Internet and tend to be cheapest if you can avoid weekend travel and book well in advance of your travel date. 

From La Rochelle it’s only about a one-hour drive to Les Charmettes.
